Energy Debate

Electricity is such a huge part of daily life in most of America. We use it in almost every part of our day; from the moment we wake up to an electric alarm clock and turn on the lights, right through the day as we use our mp3 players and other appliances, to the moment we turn those lights out again. In fact, you are using electricity right now to read this (unless you printed it out - in which case the printer used electricity!) Do you know where the electricity that we use every day comes from?
In 6th grade science we are now in the process of researching the various way that electricity is produced in our country; fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) solar, hydroelectric, wind, and nuclear. Our goal is to learn about them so we can make an informed decision about which one is the best for the earth.
What do you think?
For more information, go to the Electricity and Magnetism page of my website and scroll down to the resources section of the energy debate.

I think that wind power osn the best because rain or shine, as long as their wind, there is power coming to us. But I think that Colonel should get solar panels or mini wind turbines for a greener tomorrow!

i think wind or hydroelectric power is the best because there is always wind and flowing water somewhere.

I think that we should have wind turbines, because usually there is some amount of wind. When the turbine propeller spins, the wind generates electricity, and then the school would have a lot of energy power. Also, solar panels would be good, but sometimes, the sun is behind the clouds, or it looks dark outside. (like it did a couple of days ago.) That's what i think is good. :D

Hey Mr.Honer! I just figured out that I can type this blog on my iPod touch which is what I'm doing right now! I will answer your question on a second blog right after this.

Ok, well I believe that wind power would be the best source of power for our Earth. I think this because it's renewable and it doesn't hurt the atmosphere.
