Zero G Video

I put together a little video about our experience with Zero G.
All of the terrible, nausea-inducing video clips are the work of yours truly and my darling wife, Trina. Don't worry, we won't quit our day jobs! The nice pictures are by Zero-G's cameraman, Steve. He amazed me with his ability to plant himself while we floated around aimlessly like Woodstock from The Peanuts.
The Music is Crazy by Seal and Fly Like and Eagle by The Steve Miller Band. I never got their permission. I hope they don't mind!
Enjoy!

Weightless Adventure

Well, we made it back in one piece! What an amazing time! Floating in Zero G is like nothing I've ever felt before. I guess the only thing I have to compare it to is going over a hill really fast and loosing your stomach, except it lasts for 20-25 seconds.
It was extrememly disorienting at first. As a matter of fact, the first time we hit zero g I jumped right up and darned if Newton's laws didn't kick right in! I smashed into the ceiling pretty quickly! Luckily I was not the only one to do that!
Video that I took was just a blurry haze of colors and lots of people screaming "WOOOOO!!!" Fortunately, they had six cameras mounted in the plane and they will be putting together a DVD for everyone. I guess I'll just have to wait for a few weeks.
Finally, everybody thought it was great that I was able to take my students with me (at least their signatures) by way of a signed piece of fabric on my back.
Till next time!
Rob

Time to Fly!

We're flying today!
Our Weightless Flight, courtesy of Northrop Grumman and Zero G, is scheduled for today at 4 pm out of BWI.
I am just a little bit nervous and also a lot excited!
Trina and I are going to be performing several experiments including juggling, weightlessness on a slinky, and push-ups.
We have both been spending some time in our classrooms getting the students excited for the trip. Trina is taking her Ms. Frizzle doll that is always in her classroom and I will be wearing a piece of fabric on my back that every one of my students got to sign.
More after the flight.

Weightless Flight

This may be the coolest thing that I will get to do with my life! I am very excited about an opportunity I have been presented with. Northrop Grumman has teamed up with the Zero G corporation to send math and science teachers on a series of parabolic flights in a specially modified 727 that simulates several different degrees of weightlessness. We fly on September 12 out of BWI (Baltimore Washington International Airport.) During the trip we will be performing experiments and demonstrations that we will videotape. I am especially happy because my wife Trina, who is also a 6th grade science teacher, is one of the participants!
It should be a great experience!
