NorthBay

I wanted to provide a place for students and parents to ask questions about the upcoming NorthBay trip (November 2-6.) Please post your questions and I will try to answer them as they come up. Please read through the responses before you post a question to see if that question was already asked and answered. After you type your response please identify yourself by choosing "name/url" and then putting in your first name and last initial. Thanks a lot!

Here are some questions I had e-mailed Mr. Honer with his answers:

When will we know which kids have been assigned to our groups?

I am working on lists now, but I will not be able to put together final lists until I have all of my permission slips in. The due date is Oct. 14.

Do parents stay with their groups while they’re doing classes?

Yes. There will also be a CRMS teacher with the group as well.

Do they have alarm clocks in the cabins?

I think they do, but I will check on that.

Do they have cleaning supplies in the cabins (Lysol spray or disinfectant wipes for the bathrooms)?

Yes

Do they serve coffee/tea for adults?

YES!!! All day it will be available. and yes, you will need it! I know I did.

What are the hikes like? I have a pair of waterproof boots, but I wouldn't want to hike in them (not very comfortable). Can I hike in tennis shoes or would it be better to get a more comfortable pair of boots?

hi mr.honer you know i'm going! I hope it's as good as you say it is. my mom was shocked that we would stay for that long.I was shocked to because I move here last year so I never had a field trip for that long.I moved here from PA. I was born in ephreta. I don't think I spelled it quite right so see you on monday mr.honer.

harley r. said...

also mr.hone can you tell me who will be in my cabin or which of my friends will be there with me? thanks for reading this message.

hi mr.honer I can't find the food chian/food web game. can you post the way to get there? if not I could ask you in school in the morning. which ever one works for you. see you in class tomorrow morning before home rooom or when ever you have time.thanks for reading!

Thanks to Mrs. Cerro for posting those great questions. (you beat me to it!)
In answer to your second question about the hikes; They are not what I would call "technical" but they can be long. I would recommend comfortable sneakers or boots with good support. Some of the trails are a little steep but not overly difficult. One piece of advice that NorthBay always recommends is to not come to the camp with brand-new shoes. That is a sure way to get blisters on the first day!

I talked to my mom last night and we started talking about litter being a problem. We live on a farm and we all ways see trash laying out. More people also need to recycle. We see cans, plastic, glass, and more laying on the ground. People need to start recycling and stop littering.

heyy mr.honer its andrea crandell from last year im north bay was fun and how is everything goin with the new 6th grade do u like it!!!

Mr. Bob said...

Guys, I had a lot of fun hangin' with you and showing you NorthBay. There was so much more to experience - I wish we had another week.

As you continue, think about our discussions on facing issues/problems in your life. If you have a defined strategy on how to face a problem, you will greatly increase your chances of success in resolving it (or at least improving the situation).

Enjoy the rest of your Science year with Mr. Honer. He not only is a great teacher, but he ROX. I will be checking in from time to time and see how you are doing.
