The Asteroid Belt

A lot of students ask me questions about the asteroid belt that is between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The one question that keeps popping up is "how do we fly a spaceship through the field without it getting messed up?"
I found a great site called How Stuff Works that explains that question and many more. Check it out!

There is a lot of space between the asteroids so the space ship can get throught the asteroids. The one in starwars is made up.

the asteroid belts that you see on tv and movies are not the real thing the real asteroid belt is really spacey between the asteroids.

asteroids are really small and have a small chance of being so close together that spaceships won't be able to get through them.

there is a lot of space between the astroids.

I think that there is a lot of space between Mars and Jupiter so the spaceship can get through them because the astroides are small.

I think since the asteroids are small that the space ship can get through.

you can go through the asteroid belt because the asteroids arnt as close as you think only a small hand full of asteroids can do damage to the space craft you can just go or drift right through them.

the astyriod belt is not as packed together as you think it would be

Asteroid are really small and they have a less chance of them hitting the spaceships because of the mass

There is a lot of space between the ASTEROIDS.

Asteroid belt is so small you just go through the belt because it is spaced beteew the belt

Theres so much space that the space ship would fly right through the astroid belt.

because every thing floats in space.

theirs space between all the asteroids and
enough to fly around in space.

Anonymous said...

go around them and since theirs a lot of space between them.

The asteroids are really far away from each other so we can fit between them.

the asteroids in the asteroid belt are very far apart, so far apart that it is almost impossible to hit with a space ship.

the astroid belts are small and they are close together that the spaceship would have a hard time getting through it.

The Asteroids Are Small So The
Asteroids Have A Chance Of Being Close Together So The Space Ship Will Not Be Able To Through Them.

theirs space between all the asteroid

There is more than enough space between each asteroid to be able to fit the spaceship between them. Also, the asteroids aren't that big only a few could destroy a spaceship anyway.

A spaceship from Earth could travel through a astroid belt because there is a lot of space between them so it would be safe.

There is lot of space between the asteroids so the spaceship can fly through and make it through the field without it getting destroyed

you cant because a asteroid may hit you.

Theres a lot of space between the two thats how we fly.
