Frog Science

Check out the following story.
There once was a scientist who studied frogs. One day, the scientist put the frog on the ground and told it to jump. The frog jumped four feet. So the scientist wrote in his notebook, "Frog with four feet, jumps four feet."
So the scientist taped up one of the frog’s legs. The scientist told the frog to jump. The frog jumped three feet. The scientist wrote in his notebook, "Frog with three feet, jumps three feet."
So the scientist taped up another leg. He told the frog to jump. The frog jumped two feet. So the scientist wrote in his notebook "Frog with two feet, jumps two feet."
The scientist taped up one more leg. He told the frog to jump. The frog jumped one foot. So the scientist wrote in his notebook, "Frog with one foot, jumps one foot."
So the scientist taped up his last leg. He said, "Frog jump. Frog jump. FROG JUMP!" So the scientist wrote in his notebook, "Frog with no feet, loses hearing."
Do you agree with the scientist? Do you have a different conclusion? Tell me what you think about thhe scientist's thinking.

Egg Lab
The big question on your mind is "What was in the beakers?"
Our first observations showed that the hard-boiled egg floated in sample A but sunk very quickly in Sample B.
During today's experiments a lot of students made some great observations. There were quite a few different hypotheses in the different classes. The guesses ranged from vinegar to Sprite. Many of the choices were eliminated through careful experimentation. Several groups also observed that sample A was lighter than sample B.
So, the question is; What do you think was in the beakers? Post your answer soon!

Great First Week
This has been a great first week of school. I have really enjoyed meeting my new students.
There have been a lot of great responses from the students this first week! Thanks to all who took the time to get on the Blog.
Here are some answers to some of the questions I have received:
- When is NorthBay?
We will be going to NorthBay on October 20th and returning on October 24th. For more information about the NorthBay experience you should check out this link on the NorthBay site. (Parents will like this one!)
- Can My parent be a chaperone?
I will be sending out information about chaperones in the next week or so. YES! we will need help from an equal number of female and male chaperones. I seem to have the hardest time getting Dads, so keep that in mind. We will be scheduling an after school information meeting so look for that. I will try to remember to post information about that here on the blog.
- When did I become a teacher?
I started teaching 10 years ago. This has been my only school.
Take care for now. I'll see you in the lab!
