In the Egg Lab, students made observations of a hard boiled egg when they placed it in two different liquids. They made a prediction and then made observations.
What do you think was in the two beakers? Why? Could you create a test to figure out if your guess was correct?

Hay Mr.Honer today 9/2/09 I did the egg experiment. I think that the 2 liquids were vinegar and something else. I had alot of fun. I think we will be doing some really fun experiments this year determining on what we did today. Im looking forward to figuring out what the liquids are tomorrow. Say hi to DJFunkyMuffinz for me!
Oops I forgot to put in the rest of my question answer. I think the 2 liquids were vinegar and alchohal because of the aroma. The alchohal I use to put on cuts seems to have the same smell and my dad has used vinegar in the past so I have a memory of that scent. I think I could put vinegar in 1 250ml beaker and alchohal in another 250ml beaker and see if a hard boiled egg has the same affects as your experiment did. I hope my guess was right. I thought the liquids were salt water and regular water. I thought salt water because we spilled a small amount on the table and the next day it was dried up. The dried up water looked like it had salt in it. I also know that when salt water drys there is some grains of salt left. I cant wait for the upcoming project you told us about......see you tomorrow!!
i think the A cup was just water but i also think cub B was water but mixed with baking soda

I think that in beaker A it was salt water in it because it looked cloudy and when you but salt and water together the salt starts to fade away into the water. I think that in beaker B it was sprite because it was fuzzzy.

I think that one of the containers had saltwater in it which made the egg slow down slower and the other container had plain water in it. I could get a glass of water and a glass of saltwater and see if I am correct.
I think the glasses were filed with different types of things like soda and vinegar.I had a lot of fun that day hopefully Mr.honer tells us what it was because i really want to know what the liquids are.

I did the egg experiment and I think there was tap water in one and filtered water in the other to see if anything different would happen.I also think it would be hard if you made a chart for some people but, for others it might be easier.

Hey there everybody! It seems like everyone enjoyed the Egg Lab. I really liked the way you worked together to complete the lab and also took lab safety seriously!
As far as the big question goes, I was happy that so many people took a thoughtful guess as to what was in the different containers. Many of you based your guesses on past experiences. I was a little disappointed that not all of you answered the entire question though. Only a few students (Thomas, Apollos, Linsey, and a few others) suggested an experiment to test their hypothesis. I think that we will have to follow up with this and also work on answering every part of a multi-part question!
Ok, now for the part that you have all been waiting for:
In beaker A there was salt mixed in with the water. Jamie made a great observation about why she thought there was salt in the water. You might have noticed also that the egg dropped more slowly through the salt water and in some cases it even floated a little.
Beaker B had fresh water.
Thanks for doing such a great job. On Wednesday we will be doing an activity that I think will be just as fun if not more so!
Im glad I answered the question right but I cant believe I got the ingredients wrong. It was stupid of me to ammediently asume that the ingredients woulnt be simple. But it was a new experience and I had fun with the egg lab.
I am late answering but i'm going to be honest with my old answer.I thought in sample A I thought the egg would disolve.In sample B I thought the egg would stay the same.The egg got longer and in sample B the egg became smaller.
MR.honer what did the class do today because I wasen't there. But I was here for peroids 8/9 and half of 1/2.
