We just started a new unit in 6th grade science. We will spend the next several weeks talking about Earth Science. This is one of my favorites to teach and learn about! I am excited to dive into this subject!
My question for the week is; How is Earth Science (Geology) in the news? Do a little searching around and report back on the blog. You can use what you find in newspapers, magazines, television, or the internet. Just read, watch, or listen to a report that has to do with Earth Science and post a comment about it.

Earth science is in the news because Volcanos, Tornados, Floods, and etc. is earth science and when one or more takes place it is reported on news. For example when Hurricane Katrina hit that is an example of earth science.

Earth science is in the news because volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunnamiis(don't know how to spell sorry X-<) Recently there was a valcano in Umnack Island, Alaska called Okmock. It erupted on July 12th, 2008. All the ash went up 50,000 feet in the air. I got this information from Geology.com in an article called Okmock Volcanic Eruption. Okmock eruption was an example of earth science because valconoes are naturally proccessed by the earth and are rock, fossils, sediment, soil, landform, and water features.
